The Takker picture hanging tool started off as one of those good idea moments between friends. Since then, founder and developer Damien McGrane spent the best part of six years designing Takker and engineering prototypes to eventually having a tried and tested product on the market.
During this time, Damien gave up a successful career as a product design engineer to set up and manage Takker Ltd full-time and to develop a range of add-on products.
A successful appearance on RTE's Dragon's Den kick-started the Takker's journey into the homes and workplaces of the nation and a distribution deal was signed with Woodie's DIY store in Ireland.
In 2010, to accommodate growing demand, the Takker team moved to its new base at the Northern Ireland Science Park, hub of innovation in Belfast. Takker's manufacturing and shipping partner is located only 20 minutes away.
2010 saw the release of Takker hooks, the first in a range of accessories currently under development to significantly expand the range of uses for the Takker tool.
Future plans for Takker Ltd is to further develop many more useful accessories and to take over the world! We are on a mission to rid the world of damaged walls and surfaces caused by hammers, nails, screws and drills and provide a secure and safe alternative for hanging your pictures, mirrors, clocks and many more items.
